Tina Tchen receives American Bar Association’s Brent Award

Buckley Sandler Partner Tina Tchen received the Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award from the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession at the organization’s award ceremony yesterday in Chicago.

The Brent award, named for the first woman to represent herself before a court of common law in colonial America, recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of women lawyers from around the country who have achieved professional excellence in their practice areas and paved the way to success for other women lawyers. Past winners include Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Day O’Connor, Sens. Hillary Clinton and Mazie Hirono, and former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, as well as distinguished judges, government officials, professors, and practicing lawyers.

Tchen is a leading voice in the national conversation on fighting sexual harassment, gender inequity, and discrimination, and counsels companies on those issues as a leader of Buckley Sandler’s Workplace Cultural Compliance practice. She has also been instrumental in spearheading the Time’s Up movement’s Legal Defense Fund, which provides legal support to women and men who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace. Tchen previously served as an Assistant to President Obama, Executive Director of the White House Council on Women and Girls, and Chief of Staff to First Lady Michelle Obama.
