The SAFE ACT — a response to the financial crisis passed more than a decade ago — has a new feature that goes into effect less than two months from now. Temporary Authority or TA, as it is currently known, has been a topic during numerous NMLS Ombudsman meetings, and in discussions with state and federal regulators. It has for years been on the wish list of many state-licensed mortgage companies as a way to mitigate licensing speedbumps required under the SAFE Act and enforced by state regulators.
