Buckley Webcast: California’s new privacy law - Future compliance begins today
California Governor Jerry Brown signed the California Consumer Privacy Act into law last month. Beginning in 2020, many businesses will have to comply with a number of requirements to collect and handle the personal information of consumers in the state. The practical implications will reach well beyond California’s borders, applying to any entities looking to do business in the state or collect data on its residents. Buckley discussed what’s in the new law and what it means for businesses. The webcast focused on the scope of the act and the compliance and operational requirements businesses will face, as well as enforcement and litigation implications.
