Buckley Webcast: Tips for navigating changes to the FHA recertification process

HUD responded to the mortgage industry’s concerns about the FHA annual recertification process by revising and reducing the certification statements, but pre-certification diligence should still remain a priority for mortgagees. Buckley partners Michelle Rogers and Melissa Klimkiewicz, and associate Kate Goodman discussed mortgagee recertification tips and best practices in light of the recent changes. They also discussed changes to FHA’s Defect Taxonomy that just went into effect, changes to the loan-level certifications that HUD is looking to implement, and the memorandum of understanding between HUD and the Department of Justice on use of the False Claims Act to enforce FHA program requirements.
