Alonso, a former federal prosecutor for the Eastern District of New York, moderated this panel discussion and shared the qualifications for and application process to become an Assistant United States Attorney. Panelists also discussed the diversity efforts and recruiting for these positions, structure of the office, types of cases the offices typically handle, “career path” available in the offices, qualifications sought for the position of Assistant United States Attorney, and the basics of applying to U.S. Attorney's offices.
