Partners John Kromer and Walter Zalenski were quoted extensively in the July 10, 2014 Bloomberg Government article, "Clearing a Path in the States for Financial Technology Companies."

Those laws, technology-neutral on their face, can have sweeping coverage, said Walter Zalenski, another Buckley Sandler partner.

“Oftentimes the plain language means you would find something as simple as a merchant issuing gift cards potentially covered by state money transmitter laws,” Zalenski said.

The nature of the business often answers that question right away, said Buckley Sandler Co-Managing Partner John Kromer.

“The ubiquity of the technology almost dictates 50-state coverage,” Kromer said June 5. “If you don't play in all 50 states you're not going to be in the game.”
