Andrew L. Sandler and Preston Burton Quoted in The American Lawyer Article, "Buckley Sandler Bags High-Profile DC Litigator"

Preston Burton

Andrew L. Sandler and Preston Burton were quoted in Scott Flaherty's The American Lawyer article, "Buckley Sandler Bags High-Profile DC Litigator," on June 1, 2016.

Buckley Sandler, a fast-growing Washington, D.C.-based firm that has soared up the Am Law 200 rankings in recent years, has hired former Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe partner Preston Burton, whose past clients include Monica Lewinsky and two ex-federal agents accused of spying for Russia.

Burton joined Buckley Sandler this week from Poe & Burton, a boutique he co-founded in 2011 after leaving Orrick in Washington, D.C. Burton’s fellow former name partner, Gregory Poe, will continue running his own practice.

Buckley Sandler announced Wednesday its hire of Burton, claiming that its new hire would bolster its “already robust” white-collar defense practice. The firm—which focuses on financial services, litigation and government enforcement matters—said Burton is the sixth former assistant U.S. attorney that Buckley Sandler has on staff.

“Preston is clearly one of the country’s top trial lawyers specializing in high-profile cases, and he further strengthens our extensive capabilities to assist clients in addressing government enforcement initiatives,” Buckley Sandler chairman Andrew Sandler said in a statement.

“It’s going to give me the flexibility to maintain the representation of individuals, but combine it with the kinds of resources … to be able to handle institutional representations,” Burton said of his new firm. “The nice thing about this place is that it’s now still a boutique, but it’s a boutique with a lot of heft to it.”
