Preston Burton was quoted on April 22, 2020 in an American Banker article, “Will Congress's coronavirus response watchdog have any teeth?” which discussed the Congressional Oversight Commission and the areas the panel will lack enforcement authority.

Burton noted, “The panel lacks subpoena authority, but it does enjoy the benefit of a public platform to critique the administration for failing to share information, as well as to comment on perceived issues or failures in implementing the program. If there is consensus and unanimity of the bipartisan panel, that will carry significant weight with the public and bodies that do enjoy subpoena power.”
