Daniel R. Alonso was quoted on July 7, 2020 in a New York Times article, “Case against Amy Cooper lacks key element: Victim’s cooperation,” which discussed the Manhattan district attorney’s decision to charge a white woman, Amy Cooper, with filing a false police report against a Black man, Christian Cooper, in Central Park and what the prosecutors will need to succeed in this case.

Alonso noted, “To prevail at trial, prosecutors will have to prove that Ms. Cooper did not believe in that moment she was being threatened and that she intended to file a false complaint against him. A threat can be, ‘I’m going to kill you,’ or it can be subtle. She may well have believed at the time that his statement was threatening in her definition.”
