Elizabeth R. Bailey was interviewed for a July 21, 2020 Harvard Law Today article, “A case for compassion,” which discussed her work in obtaining a federal court order securing release of her client to a care facility due to his persistent vegetative state and vulnerability to Covid-19.
Bailey noted, “When the order came through, we were in shock. There was so much emotion and relief. When you work on something like this, you end up getting to know the most intimate details of a client’s life. You think about them when you’re not working, wonder how they are doing and worry for their family.” Bailey said this case has inspired her in many parts of her life. She added, “After the pandemic calms and we all return to work, this will continue to color my practice and, indeed, my life.”
