Daniel R. Alonso noted in the Wall Street Journal article, “Manhattan district attorney candidates walk tightrope on trump probe,” that the candidates must use caution when discussing the Trump investigation because any comment or commitment to prosecute the case could call into question their ability to fairly handle it. Alonso said, “No experienced, responsible prosecutor would ever promise to hold a specific person accountable for anything, at least without reviewing the evidence” and must have “the discretion not to appear to prejudge a case.”
