Michael T. Ebaugh, Counsel in the Washington, D.C., office of Buckley LLP, advises financial institutions and other public and private companies, private equity firms, venture capitalists, and other investors in a range of corporate transactions, including M&A and securities transactions, critical vendor and other third-party relationships, and in the negotiation and drafting of related commercial agreements.
His practice focuses both in and outside of the financial services space, includes outsourcing arrangements, financings, purchases and sales of loans and loan-related assets, corporate reorganizations, and bank and fintech arrangements. He also frequently advises banks and other financial services companies on loan repurchase and indemnification issues.
Mr. Ebaugh also has significant in-house experience. In that capacity, he served as a director and commercial counsel for a large multinational professional services company. In addition, Mr. Ebaugh was in-house counsel with a high-growth innovative consumer products company, where he focused on commercial transactions and intellectual property matters.
In addition, Mr. Ebaugh has extensive experience advising on a full range of trademark issues, including selection, clearance, prosecution, and enforcement of trademarks. Previously, Mr. Ebaugh served as a Trademark Examining Attorney at the United States Patent and Trademark Office where he analyzed complex factual and legal issues, and successfully litigated disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Mr. Ebaugh received his J.D. from the University of Baltimore (cum laude) where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Intellectual Property Law Journal, and his B.S. from the University of Maryland.
