Stephen M. LeBlanc provides litigation support to financial services clients across a wide range of class action and complex civil litigation matters. As Counsel in the Washington, D.C., office of Buckley LLP, Mr. LeBlanc defends companies and individuals in a variety of high-stakes litigation matters, with particular focus on issues impacting the mortgage industry. He is also experienced in handling government enforcement and internal investigations and counseling banks and other financial service providers in compliance and risk-management issues regarding fair lending and UDAAP laws.

Mr. LeBlanc’s recent work includes:

  • Defending mortgage servicers and lender-placed insurance providers in numerous putative class actions and government investigations regarding lender-placed insurance practices
  • Defending the CFO of a publicly traded company in a putative securities class action and SEC investigation into disclosure and accounting issues
  • Representing a bank board committee in an internal investigation into whistleblower allegations
  • Representing a major mortgage industry client and its board of directors regarding an enforcement action by federal banking regulators and numerous state attorney general investigations
  • Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) investigations and enforcement matters

Prior to joining Buckley, Mr. LeBlanc clerked for the Honorable Kenneth A. Marra in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and was a litigation associate at White & Case. He received his J.D. from American University (cum laude), where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the American University Law Review, and received his B.S. from Northeastern University (magna cum laude).
