Buckley Sandler Announces Six Promotions for 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 17, 2018) – Buckley Sandler LLP today announced the promotion of six associates in three of its offices to counsel, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Buckley Sandler’s newly promoted counsel are:

• Nadav Ariel (Washington, D.C.) – Ariel represents corporate and individual clients in complex civil litigation and government enforcement matters. He received his J.D. from Harvard University in 2009 (cum laude), and his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina (with honors, Phi Beta Kappa) in 2006.
   
• Timothy J. Coley (Washington, D.C.) – Coley advises clients in government investigations and enforcement actions, whistleblower matters, and complex and class action litigation. He received his J.D. from the University of North Carolina in 2009 (with honors), and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 2005.
   
• Benjamin W. Hutten  (New York) – Hutten provides regulatory and compliance counsel, as well as investigative and enforcement defense services, to foreign and domestic financial institutions. He has a deep understanding of anti-money-laundering and sanctions regulations and enforcement. Hutten received his J.D. from New York Law School (summa cum laude) and his bachelor’s degree from Vassar College (Phi Beta Kappa).  
   
• Katherine Brockway Katz (Washington, D.C.) – Katz assists financial industry clients in litigation, regulatory compliance, and corporate matters relating to mortgage lending and servicing activities. She has represented clients in matters involving the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Department of Justice(DOJ), Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). Katz received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2010 and her bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University in 2005.
   
• Sasha Leonhardt (Washington, D.C.) – Leonhardt represents financial services industry clients in enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters before a wide variety of federal and state agencies, and also has substantial experience advising clients on the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and Military Lending Act (MLA). He received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law (cum laude) in 2010, and his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 2005.
   
• Michael A. Rome (Los Angeles) – Rome represents corporate clients in a variety of complex civil litigation and government enforcement matters. His work includes cases involving mortgage-backed securities, mortgage fraud, the Consumer Finance Protection Act (CFPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Administrative Procedure Act (APA), and unfair and deceptive trade-practice statutes.  Rome received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2010, and his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis in 2007 (Phi Beta Kappa).
