Press Release

Buckley Sandler to move its D.C. headquarters in 2019

WASHINGTON, DC (October 15, 2018) – Buckley Sandler LLP announced today that it has signed a 13-year lease with Brookfield Properties to move its headquarters in Washington, D.C., during the second quarter of 2019. The move to 2001 M Street, N.W., will come shortly after Buckley Sandler marks its 10th anniversary next March.

The build-to-suit agreement covers 65,500 square feet and two floors, reducing the firm’s overall footprint by 7%. Features include floor-to-ceiling windows, larger and more flexible meeting and conference space, and work configurations that are ergonomic, efficient, and supported by state-of-the-art technology.

“The move to 2001 M Street positions us for the next chapter in our firm’s history,” said Co-Managing Partner John P. Kromer.  “We look forward to providing our clients, attorneys, and professional staff a well-designed, productive environment that will reinforce our unique culture and provide flexibility and efficiency in supporting our continued growth.”

2001 M Street is a LEED Gold-certified office building that features an indoor/outdoor rooftop deck, a garage with EV charging stations, a secured bike room, and a modern, well-appointed fitness center. The central business district location is close to restaurants, hotels, shopping, and Metro stations.

“Moving to a new building is a major development for our people and our clients,” said Co-Managing Partner Benjamin B. Klubes. “Our new office space will provide updated work stations and offices and expanded social spaces for attorneys and staff, along with meeting and conference facilities that will support stronger collaboration with each other and our clients.”

Robert Copito and Harry Stephens of CBRE represented the firm in negotiations with Greg Meyer and Melanie Stehmer-Townsend of Brookfield Properties, which owns and manages the property. A team from HYL Architecture led by Catherine Heath and Antony Yen will provide interior design services for the project. Buckley Sandler’s internal leasing and relocation team is led by the firm’s Executive Director, Tim Neary.
