Shara M. Chang and Michael A. Rome discussed "CA’s Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the future of privacy laws across the US and the world" at a National Association of Federally-Isured Credit Unions webinar

California Governor Jerry Brown signed the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) into law on June 28, 2018. Beginning in 2020, many businesses will have to comply with a number of requirements to collect and handle the personal information of consumers in the state. The practical implications will reach well beyond California’s borders, applying to any entities looking to do business in the state or collect data on its residents.  Other states have indicated that they may be next to enact similar provisions.

This webinar provided a detailed overview of the CCPA and examine major federal, state, and international legislative developments in privacy.
