Fed will resume HMDA quarterly reporting

On May 14, the Federal Reserve’s Division of Consumer and Community Affairs issued a letter informing supervised financial institutions that HMDA quarterly reporting will resume beginning with institutions’ 2021 first quarter data, due on or before May 31, 2021, for all covered loans and applications with a final action taken date between January 1 and March 31, 2021.

CFPB delivers 2020 fair lending report to Congress

On April 14, the CFPB issued its annual fair lending report to Congress, which outlines the Bureau’s efforts in 2020 to fulfill its fair lending mandate, while protecting consumers against the resulting economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kraninger discusses semi-annual report and pandemic response at congressional hearings

On July 29, CFPB Director Kathy Kraninger testified at a hearing held by the Senate Banking Committee on the CFPB’s Semi-Annual Report to Congress, which covers the Bureau’s work from October 1, 2019, through March 31, 2020.

CFPB raises HMDA reporting thresholds

On April 16, the CFPB issued a final rule permanently raising coverage thresholds for collecting and reporting data about closed-end mortgage loans and open-end lines of credit under HMDA.

Federal Reserve eases quarterly HMDA reporting

On March 31, the Federal Reserve’s (Fed) Division of Consumer and Community Affairs issued a letter regarding HMDA quarterly reporting requirements during the Covid-19 pandemic, which echoed the statement issued by the CFPB on March 26.
