Andrew L. Sandler Quoted in Wall Street Journal Article, "Appeals Court Deals Setback to Consumer-Watchdog Agency"

Andrew L. Sandler was quoted on October 12, 2016 in an Wall Street Journal article regarding a federal appeals court decision, which determined the structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to be unconstitutional, and imposed a three-year statute of limitation on the agency’s retroactive enforcement efforts.

Sandler weighed-in on the latter stating, “The statute of limitations issue will significantly undermine the bureau’s practice, which is to look back and seek restitution for many years, often before the bureau even existed.” He further noted that the statute of limitations will “significantly limit [the CFPB’s] ability to seek damages for past periods of time in certain circumstances.”
